The Neurobiology of Restorative Practices -The Science Of Relationships
Thursday October 10, 2024 12:30pm - 1:30pm PDT
Recent advancements in brain research are increasingly emphasizing the significance of relationship building and the role of right-brain epigenetic social experiences as the catalyst for optimal learning and social-emotional adjustment. For educators and administrators, it becomes crucial to delve into and comprehend how compromised right-brain locomotion can impede a student's ability to develop empathy and navigate emotional and cognitive complexities effectively. This presentation aims to highlight the importance of adopting a right-brain restorative framework, particularly when working with young individuals who have been impacted by COVID-19 and its aftermath, as they return from quarantine. Current mental health statistics reveal a prevailing prevalence of high levels of trauma, often leading to PTSD, and adjustment symptoms, among students within the K-12 system.
