In 2018, the Los Angeles Unified School District assembled a groundbreaking collaboration between the Los Angeles Unified School District’s School Mental Health Department and the Los Angeles School Police Department. Through this partnership, the Mental Health Evaluation Team (MHET) was created. This team provides an effective, compassionate response to students and staff who may be experiencing a mental health crisis. This workshop's purpose is for attendees to understand the process of creating a multidisciplinary team comprised of the mental health provider and law enforcement officer to support mental health crises in schools. 1. Participants will learn about the inception and purpose of the Mental Health Evaluation Team (MHET) 2. Participants will understand the glows and grows of creating and implementing a multidisciplinary response team for mental health emergencies 3. Participants will develop awareness about how facility dogs may be used to build rapport and mitigating suicide risk
