Thursday October 10, 2024 12:30pm - 1:30pm PDT
Youth have important stories to tell. Youth Educators and Mental Health Advocates know how to listen and create safe spaces for our youth to explore their mental health, identity and sense of belonging. How does creativity fit in? During this interactive workshop, workshop participants will build upon their existing skills by exploring a proven roadmap for teaching personal narrative storytelling based on my 25 years as an Arts Educator. We will explore photography, video & audio stories as tools for youth identity exploration, creative expression and empathy building. Through examining powerful examples of student work, you will learn about storytelling as an effective tool for improving adolescent mental health. Workshop attendees will gain practical knowledge about how to integrate creative exercises into curricula, practice personal narrative storytelling through a hands-on creative exercise and walk away with a Creativity Toolkit for personal and professional use.
