Alyssa Lego is a prolific author, philanthropist, and thought leader pursuing a degree in communications at Boston College. Hailing from Toms River, New Jersey, Alyssa demonstrated extraordinary communication skills early on, speaking in full sentences by age two and forgoing traditional play for adult interactions. Her prowess as a speaker has led her to prominent platforms such as the Special Olympics of New Jersey, The Lights Fest, the International RAISE Conference, the Metro Women’s Leadership Summit, and TEDx events. She also emcees the Headliners Dance Competition nationwide.
At just fourteen, driven by a desire to combat the ableism faced by her younger brother, Michael, Alyssa co-founded the Morgan Marie Michael Foundation. The charitable organization championed acceptance for individuals on the autism spectrum and significantly influenced autism advocacy through initiatives like the Strut! brand.
Alyssa debuted as an author in 2020 with her memoir I Never Cared Much for Toys: My Fascination with Conversation. She further channels her creativity into the You Me Neurodiversity children’s book series, with titles such as Henry and the Birthday Invitation (2024), Max and the Tower of Acceptance (2023), and Lily Finds Her Voice (2023), aiming to foster autism appreciation and neurodiversity through engaging narratives and educational programs. The You Me Neurodiversity brand also includes classroom programming and merchandise that convey powerful messages about neurodiversity. Alyssa’s dedication extends to donating book royalties to organizations that support autistic individuals, particularly adults.
Besides her literary endeavors, she hosted the “Chit Chat with Alyssa Lego” podcast, engaging with influencers to discuss global issues, and has been featured in various media outlets advocating for neurodiverse inclusion. Despite widespread acclaim, including a feature on a Times Square billboard, Alyssa views her work as simply contributing to the greater good and advocating for those without a voice, a commitment deeply ingrained in her very essence.
