About me
I am in my 10th year of high school counseling! I started my journey in CA and moved to Austin, TX in 2022 with my 11 year old daughter. I have been studying and researching anxiety in high school students ever since I became a counselor. I chose to write my graduate school thesis on this topic and, because I had the perfect environment, was able to fully immerse myself in the data. My focus is not only the triggers and causes of anxiety, but also long term survival techniques and solutions that anyone can learn & master. This is also a personal journey for me, so I always approach talking to people with an empathetic understanding of the issue. I do not see anxiety as a weakness or the latest buzzword to label students. But I also do not want students to use anxiety as an excuse from school engagement and academic success. It is a temporary obstacle to moving forward and does not have to hinder our personal growth- either in education, career, or life in general.
